Reflective Psychotherapy is adapted from MI and consists primarily of MI techniques. Thus, to a great extent, RP training is MI training.
That said, we recognize the importance of being able to distinguish them and their unique roles. Our MI Training Curriculum follows MI guidance, including use of the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) scoring system to rate and provide feedback on role-plays.
We are studying how MI and RP differ and what training elements are necessary for a learner to use MI separate from RP.
Members are encouraged to work with Dave Roberts and others to design a program of study that provides them with the learning they want, whether it be RP, MI or both.
